Windswept Fibres is a hand-dyed yarn business operated by me, Pamela Hynes, in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. I respect your privacy. This policy explains what personal information is collected when you visit or shop on this website, why it is needed, and how it may be used.

Information I Collect…
When You Place an Order
This may include your name; billing and shipping addresses; email address; telephone number if you give it or delivery needs it; the products you order; order and payment details; shipping details; and other information needed to process or support the order.
Card payments are handled by Square. I do not store your full card number anywhere on my site and cannot access it at any time during or after the transaction.
When You Contact Me
If you email Windswept Fibres, I receive what you choose to send: your name, email, order number, and the message.
When You Join the Email List
If you subscribe, your email and related subscription details are processed with Mailchimp.
Marketing emails are optional. You can unsubscribe from the link in those emails. Buying from me does not put you on the marketing list.
How Personal Information Is Used
Personal information may be used to:
- process and fulfill orders;
- arrange shipping or store pickup;
- process payments and refunds;
- write to you about an order;
- answer questions;
- prevent fraud or misuse;
- keep business and transaction records;
- meet legal, accounting and tax obligations;
- run, secure and improve the website;
- send marketing emails when you have chosen to receive them.
I do not sell or rent customer personal information or mailing lists.
Service Providers
An online shop needs a few companies that work on my behalf. These currently include:
- Square, for card and gift-card payments.
- Easyship and the shipping carriers, for rates, labels, customs information and delivery.
- Mailchimp, for email subscriptions, related shop emails, and cart or activity tracking used by those tools.
- SiteGround, which hosts the site.
- WordPress and WooCommerce, which run the site and the shop.
- Google Analytics, to understand how people use the shop.
I share information with them only as needed to provide that service, run the shop, meet legal obligations, or protect the business and customers. Some of these providers may process or store information outside Canada. When that happens, local law there may apply.
Cookies and Website Information
The shop uses cookies and similar tools. Some are required for the site and checkout to work: keeping items in your cart, session information, checkout, and security. Square payment tools can load Apple Pay and Google Pay at checkout; those services may set their own cookies. Mailchimp is used for the newsletter form and for shop email and cart tracking, and that can also set cookies. SiteGround hosts the site and may use cookies for security and performance. WooCommerce records shop analytics in the store admin. Google Analytics is used to understand how people use the site.
Shopping Cart
Products in an unpaid cart are held for about 60 minutes. A cart is not a completed purchase.
How Long Information Is Kept
I keep personal information only as long as reasonably needed for the purpose it was collected, including orders, customer service, legal, accounting and tax requirements.
Your Choices and Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may be able to ask to see or correct information I hold, and in some cases to have it deleted or its use limited. Canadian customers have rights under applicable Canadian privacy law, including PIPEDA where it applies. Customers in the United States, United Kingdom and Australia may have additional rights under local law.

Security
I use reasonable measures to protect personal information and the site. Payments go through Square. No internet transmission or storage can be guaranteed completely secure.
Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated when the site, services, suppliers or legal requirements change. The current version will be on this page with its revision date.
